Clinician Bio

April Barker is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with two decades of experience providing adult mental health care across diverse clinical settings. She serves as IOP Clinical Director at Ocean Psychiatry: A Salma Health affiliated clinic, where she combines direct client care with program leadership and clinical supervision.

April earned her master’s degree from Alliant International University in San Diego and has worked across wraparound services, military family systems, community agencies, case management programs, and intensive outpatient settings. Her leadership ensures that the Intensive Outpatient Program delivers structured, evidence-based treatment while maintaining individualized, patient-centered care.

She utilizes a client-centered framework and brings extensive experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression and anxiety, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, and trauma-related conditions. Within Salma Health’s integrated model, April collaborates with psychiatric and therapeutic teams to ensure coordinated treatment planning and measurable progress throughout the program.

In addition to her clinical work, April has long been committed to community service and volunteer initiatives supporting mental health access and education.
