
Hossein Ansari, MD, FAAN, FAHS, is a board-certified neurologist and fellowship-trained certified headache and facial pain specialist with board certification by the United Council of Neurological Subspecialties (UCNS), who specializes in diagnosing and treating headaches and facial pain.
Dr. Ansari joined Kaizen Brain Center, now Salma Health, in July 2020. He developed a multidisciplinary program for headache and facial pain and helped advance the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program. He is also running multiple clinical trials in the field of migraine and trigeminal neuralgia .
Previously, he served as director of the Headache Clinic at UC San Diego University for over 5 years. He is still an associate professor of Neuroscience at UC San Diego, where he treats patients and teaches the residents.
Prior to that, Dr. Ansari created a multidisciplinary headache and facial pain clinic at Neurology & Neuroscience Associates, Inc. (NNA) in Akron, Ohio, where he also served as the medical director of NNA’s headache clinic. He was also an assistant professor of medicine at Northeastern Ohio Medical University and an attending neurologist at Summa Health System in Akron.
An active member of multiple domestic and international professional societies, Dr. Ansari belongs to: International Headache Society (IHS), American Headache Society (AHS), and American Academy of Neurology (AAN). He has presented at various national and international conferences.

- Interventional and procedural treatment of headache with a focus on migraine, including “surgical treatment” for headache.
- Facial pain with particular attention to autoimmune trigeminal neuropathy and “trigeminal neuralgia”.
- Neurological manifestation of systemic disorder with focus on “neuro-rheumatology”
- Neuropharmacology.
